Well, I missed it - why the hell is Coffee playing as Protoss??

Same, I just tune in and see a replay of him getting blasted as toss???

I guess Coffee read the article by Wax and got convinced that Oliveira's Achilles heel is PvT ;-)

Firefly 2-3 Jieshi and 1-3 Nanami ...
|
Firefly out quite early is a bit of a surprise, although kinda make sense with how his form has dip recently.
|
So when Reynor is playing - is he forced to play on EU? Or do they do NA server or whatever.
|
On April 27 2024 03:56 Pandain wrote: So when Reynor is playing - is he forced to play on EU? Or do they do NA server or whatever.
Forced in EU by default, only changes if both players agree to meet somewhere more in the middle
|
I wonder if Maxpax or Clem will agree to play on NA against him (if he even makes it there) From a financial perspective it'd be dumb to do so but from a competitive perspective I've got to imagine it would feel lackluster to beat Reynor when you know he has 300ping.
|
Nanami 3-2 Lemon Lemon didn't get the chance of the main event.

Olivera, Nice and Coffee in the Top 3 of Asia We realy live in the most boring timeline here I realy wished Lemon could have gone even further

This bracket into a TvT final is quite impressive :D

Protoss so bad, we started with 7 toss and 1 terran and ended up with 2 terran lol
GG to Nice if he call it a career, his proxy void ray builds against Clem in WTL will always stay in my memory,
|
lol Coffee switched to Protoss against Oliveira, and now Oliveira switched to P too, so it's a PvP between two terrans at the moment!
|
Wow so Asia top 8 were all protosses :^)
|
Could Reynor come back to EU for 2 weeks and play in the Regional playoff instead of playing from KR with high Ping?
|
Elazer not building a single overseer vs all those stasis wards is triggering me.

What happened in Reynor vs HeroMarine?

Yeah this wasnt it by elazer.

I don't have too much to complain about the first two games that Elazer played. 1st game defence, well can happen to everybody. G2 was technically better, he only fell a little short.
But the G3 felt it was the worst because of how he lost. Granted he wasn't able to properly scout, but ... MaxPax out-zerged him

Showtimes pvt looking kinda meh at the moment :/

I guess I familiarize with Reynor got beaten by Heromarines instead of the opposite.

With Reynor struggling and cross-server and Clem absolutely dominating MaxPax in the weeklies, looks like this is Clem's tournament to lose. Haven't had such a favorite in the EU regionals since 2018.

Why did Harstem went straight to mass Zealot, only to get massacred by mass Adept from Skillous? I know he wanted to mix in more Archon but half of his army was on pure Zealot.

Spirit completely F up that 2nd game, he went mass Marine Tank but instead of countering and attacking the base, he fought head-on into the higher tech army and just die. You need to be aggressive to play the style and he play defensive.
Edit: Then he decides to play like Maru in the next 3 games, damn.

With Serral out in the military and Clem and Reynor fighting in the lower bracket, is this finally the first EU regional since January 2018 where a non-Clem/Reynor/Serral player wins?
|
Nah, I think Clem will just win from the Lower Bracket, unless Spririt has another amazing TvT in him.

Wouldn't exclude him beating HeroMarine at this point at least, more than I'd said before his series vs ShowTime

Assuming that MaxPax will give up his spot, Reynor and Harstem will play a Bo5 to get the final spot to ESL Dallas.
|
I never get why Terran trying to Bunker block the Protoss when they have no Tank or Lib to pressure them. All you get is getting broken eventually and backstabbed at home.
|
Gratz MaxPax! just 3 more wins

As i said spirit winning gave maxpax a very free path to the finals.

I really enjoy Astreas HT based PvT.
It is so much more micro from both sides compared to playing vs. colossi or running from disruptors.

It just depends on if Reynor/Serral are the ones who will benefit or not. If they will be eliminated by using points then ESL will run a quick second bracket. If they'll advance via points then of course no bracket is needed.

That's what the rulebook still says (section 2.3.1.2)
For situations in which only the first season of the year has been played, replacements can be defined through tiebreaker matches between the players that were eliminated on a round earlier relative to the elimination round of the player that is being replaced.
For other cases, the following apply:
○ KR:Next in line from the most recent season (ties broken by current KR Standings)
○ Othersub-regions: Next in line from the same season (ties broken by current EPT Standings)
○ Global Standings: Next in line from the global standings (ties broken by current Seeding Standings) after all regional slots are allocated; If replacement from the original line of qualification is no longer possible, ESL will try to fill the slot by any means necessary until the start of the first match of the Season Finals. After that, no more replacements will be made. The slot will remain empty instead.
During Summer they did it "wrong", this season organizers will "properly" do it. I have my own speculations on why it's different now, but I won't spell these in public.

Maru's fanboys are truly something else. Conspiracies everywhere in order to make the evil serral and reynor win against their superhero. And to think most of them are probably in their thirties at least... One doesn’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to have issues with some strange decisions here and there.
To take one example, I’ve never remotely liked giving 1 slot for the World finals from each of the two concluded Dreamhack Masters globals, and 4 for this one.
Having an identical tier of tournament, where the ones we know the results for before deciding qualifying standards, and give different numbers of qualifying spots isn’t necessarily going to be abused, but the actual option is clearly there.
I’m honestly surprised I haven’t seen too much complaining outside of me.
I don’t know if it’ll work out this way, but it’s hypothetically possible. A player above another in EPT points with a Dreamhack Top 4 placement, could be displaced by that other person if they get a top 4 Dreamhack placement.
Silly, no?

Clem took a while to get going but then went monster mode. Always a pleasure to watch him when he takes flight, but does feel a little more ‘meh’ than usual with a ping-hampered Reynor and Serral not even present.

It's not a conspiracy to say many of ESLs decisions tend to favor EU players particularly Serral and Reynor. Saying they are doing it on purpose out of bias would be a conspiracy but pointing out that it's happened is just fact.

Trigger never got really close to it in the previous seasons, (best case was 3rd in Winter), so today, the planets are aligned, I hope he grabs the opportunity with both hands
As for Clem, no Serral and Reynor unable to play at 100 percents puts ofc an asterisk to it, but as a viewer I don't feel I lost too much in the process. Harstem got close to the perfect run, Lambo going earlier than I'd expected, etc. enough storylines that I was entertained enough

I don't want to be too harsh, but he's absolutely underperformed relative to the other people on Basilisk and if they want to add a Protoss player to their roster for 2025, I'm sure some of the GSL Koreans (Stats?) or EU tosses may be looking for teams. I dunno.

Was a fun season overall, taking the most convoluted route to arrive at the same conclusion in every region.
Would have enjoyed an upset in at least one, but still good to see other players besides the favorites make some progress toward the title.

Will be interesting to see who get the 2 slots based on Combined Standing, possibly Serral and Dark if they can travel there. Btw, if Serral show up for the event, does he get the top seed due to EPT ranking, or would he get the lower seed because he didnt qualify though the Regional tournaments?

Coffee already declining his slot is a bit sad. Did the think he wouldn't get a visa soon enough or is anything else known why he declined?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to visa again. And not necessarily because of ESL but for outside reasons.

If I had to speculate I would say that Oliveira planned to go in any case, even if he didn't qualify directly, so of course he already got his visa ready. Coffee however wouldn't go if he had to pay for it himself, so he waited...but again, pure speculation.

Yeah, travel for Chinese players is always tough, especially in this current climate where money and sponsorship are scant. I think I remember people saying Oliveira had payed for him out of his pocket to travel a couple of times in the past.

And a lossless NA cup against Astrea, Gumiho and herO.
The world where HeroMarine might not go to the ESWC, if Spirit performs better enough than him in Dallas. Partly because he got almost no points from the open cups. As it he's unlikely to get the Combined slot and getting through the qualifier is possible but not favouring him. Either of them gotta perform well at the live event (or farming the remaining open cups until the EPT points disappear)

Dunno. There would have to go a lot of things wrong for HeroMarine to not qualify for EWC. I mean even if in ESL Spring all 4 spots go to Korea that only means that the global standings spot will be a whole lot closer making it almost guaranteed 2+1 spots through standings for Europe. Then there is a big questionmark about what MaxPax is gonna do.
