Recently in OGA Dota PIT Europe & CIS Season 5 grand finals against Team Spirit, 33 played a brood game with crazy spiderling micro:
twitter.com
Apparently there is a way to do this with treants, eidolons and other units by deleting a line in npc_units.txt file. Tundra have not commented on the issue yet.
There is also a Reddit thread, however I would like to revive this forum somewhat.
What do people think? For me personally this is 100% scripting and IF found guilty there should be some repercussions for both player and team.

I'm not sure what exactly is happening...
33 is splitting up a bunch of spiderlings to scout the map. So far so boring. But people think the way he does it is way too fast? Ignoring the fact that someone should watch high-level Starcraft players ... what exactly is in this file that makes anything different? This "next unit" thing? That "default" you can't do that with spiderlings, but if you change a line in this file it is? Maybe "bug or a feature" thing? Sounds that you could easily make small update to the client to put something like this in the settings...

From the very little research i did on this matter, mostly on reddit i have to admit, i think this whole discussion is blown way out of proportions. The way i see it, 33 is only finding a workarround for missing important QoL features. I bet he send a lot of mails to valve asking to make it a feature to be able to use units like spiderling like this, but valve just doesnt care ... Important to know from what information i gathered ... summoned units behave different then illusions for example, when it comes to unit controls. What 33 does with his spiderlings is something u can do with illusions ... command them as individual units out of a control group. Im 100% with 33 here, i think if there is anyone to blame, its valve for not making what he does an option u can enable in the settings!

Just leave it to Orgs+Valve imo. And also I think Dota2 should have QoL for this anyway.

Except he's not even selecting the spiderlings somehow. If he was manually clicking and moving each one then I would agree with you.
How is it Valve's fault that people are going in and editing config files to manipulate gameplay?

I don't see the issue. It isn't like the spiderlings are autopathing to specific points (Though there used to be some camera position jank you could do to if I recall correctly) and it's 'new' tech but I don't see it as an issue. It's like when people learned to spam click phoenix' sun ray to keep it on a target, it looked janky and new but it's available to everyone and in the game...
Good on someone for noticing and raising awareness on the issue, but whether or not it 'belongs in the game' is entirely up to valve. At least every team that could be using it is now aware of it!

33 was always an incredible micro player and in games where he played broodmother, i was always amazed how quick he was able to select one spider away from the others when a debuff like ink swell was casted on one of the units.
If he really changed a txt-file and delete a code in order to be able to do this, in my opinion it is scripting as same is giving him an advantage which others do not have, but we will see what Valve is saying about this. Would be a disaster for Tundra if they are getting punished for it.

I didnt explain it very good in my first post, i will try again!
Here is what changing the txt-file does:
Normally, summoned Units like Spiders are grouped in control groups. If you select, for example, all your Spiderlings, webs and Broodmother in one unit, if press the "tab" key, you will toggle between the webs, the spiderlings and Broodmother. So tabbing through only lets you select the whole control unit of the spiders (and webs i assume), but not the individual units in the control group, like for example, tabbing through meepos would allow you.
By changing the txt file, you can tab through those individual units, thus giving them individual commands. Again, this is by now way or definition cheating, its a simple workarround for a feature valve is to lazy to implement.
Whoops, i just realzied they patched it on the 5th xD

It was Valves fault, thats why they stepped in and made what 33 did an option that can be toggled in the settings. The Video was very misleading, he was manually clicking ...

If he's just clicking and moving them individually then why the need to edit config files? And it's not like he just toggled some setting, he is removing a line from a config file to manipulate gameplay.

Dude did you read my post?!? Or is this a Troll. Read Patchnotes!!!!! They patched what 33 did in the game so it is an Option in the settings that you can turn either on or off.
